Climbing up the social ladder?

I have come to realised not too long ago, that most people are not simple to pleased than others.

I have noticed that there is this social ladder that some people climb. The social ladder consist wealth, status, types of career, fame, speeches, image, beauty, class, manipulative intelligence reputation, materialistic etc... I too notice this trend at university, when student tries to dominate, out shine and step over others to have a piece of the pie, to higher their social status.

However, this does not fall well on me. There is something that bothers me when seeing people craving for such superficial things that will leads to many psychological problems, such as anxiety, aggression, esteem problems, concietness etc... To walk into this pscyhological dog eat dog world mentality is dangerous to the heart and should be observed cautiously.

One things a wise person would not do is to trade the good values and virtue for worldly desires and social status. Though, easier said than done.

Let me give you some examples. When a fool intimidate and dominant others (whether psychologically, verbally, physically. intent via using beauty etc...) in order to feel more superior and higher than others, they have lost true good values. Values of respect and code of honour is lost, values of loving kindness and thoughtfulness is lost, values of self dignity and virtue is lost, humility is lost, the ego blinds a person to only see themselve and not the bigger scope of reality and not being aware they are killing their own heart. Wisdom and much great values are lost when one tries to bully others.

Likewise, some competitive girls dress up and powder their face with tonne of make up to outshine other girls and give ugly bitchy throwns at other girls. These psychological battles hurt others and themselves, the survival of the fitness? But at what cost? It leads to jealousy, low self esteem, anxiety, a lost of peaceful heart, lost of humility and modesty, and they may not attract good heart company with such mentality.

It is a blessing for those who are strong to not bully the weak, the manipualtive intelligent people not to deceive others. Respect, code of honour and honesty is what makes the heart and society functional, without those society and the heart will crumble and beig chaotic.

The wealth of virtue is worth immeasurable more than with of money and status. Wise one would not trade the bright path for the dark path.
