is fashion and make up a good thing?

Fashion and cosmetic is very much an aspect our modern times, especially in developed world. People do use fashion for various reasons, such as expressing one's style or persona one wish to portray, to be in touch with the modern trends because or social pressure or pride shown through fashion social status. I want to explore the psychological impact it is having on others. Here are a few possible implications that arises from fashion:

- Fashion may cause one to be overly self conscious, paranoid and unnatural.
- Fashion may cause one to be self conceited, leading to arrogances
- Fashion with the current trend may leads to comparing with others, hence leading to feeling inferior if out dated or arrogance and dominance if above others. These cause competition, bitterness, hurt and low self esteem to some.
- Fashion may cause the mind to focus on the physical and materialistic aspect, that they lose the sense of the importance of inner self, character, inner virtue and their heart. It may turns a person to be shallow, superficial and lose inner wisdom.

It is understandable that some of us are living in time when we are subjected to the normality of fashion, and that we do need to put thoughts into the type of clothes we wear. But I just want to emphasise the possible psychological changes that fashion may have on us, so that we can avoid letting fashion dominate our lives and mental well being. To know that having a good heart, good character and virtue is much more important than superficial fashion and to prioritise what is important.

On further note, clothes tends to have psychological impact on our minds, emotion and behaviour. For instance, soft loose clothing makes us feel comfortable, relaxed and perhaps lazy, where as tight clothes may make us feel up tight, focus, more alert. Revealing clothes may make us feel exposed. Clothes and even fashion do have some psychological impact, so it is smart to choose a suitable clothing.
