Some people want to learn wise knowledge to sound more smarter, superior and to increase their status to feed their egos. Well, if they do that, ironically it is the opposite of the wise path, as greed for fame, greater status and image is the path of fools. As wise one ultimately focus on purifying their hearts and mind from such filthy intentions of greed, anger, delusion and ego.
Therefore, don't be tricked with people using some wise knowledge to gain good reputation and fame. A true wise one avoid those dangerous pits of worldly gain and focus on their spirital and purity.
Remember, anything that pollutes the heart with greed, anger, hatred, delusion, ego etc... is not wise, as true wise one purifies the heart!
In terms of preacher preaching wisdom, look at both the intentions of the preacher and the contents spoken. As sometimes their intention may be corrupted but wisdom can be gain from their words.
Nevertheless, one should not reject a person only because their intention is in the wrong place, but one should assess whether there is any wisdom to learn within their contents. The preacher may be corrupted, but the content could useful and beneficial. So watch the content as well.
